Cabin & Home Design

Role/Overview
A long-time passion project of mine, I had the idea a few years back that my experience as a designer, both from a visual and UX point of view, would translate well into the physical world. Whether a web page or living space, I love to create memorable experiences for people, and my background helps inform that direction. It started with one piece of raw land and a minimal amount of building knowledge, and four years later has turned into something that feels like I'm actually becoming pretty good at it.
Work
The aforementioned piece of raw land I bought in 2021 now has three living structures on it: The tiny house I live in (image below, top left), an A-frame hut (right side) and tiny cabin (bottom left) that I rent out to people looking for an experience in nature that's a bit more "luxurious" than tent camping. I designed and built the interior of the tiny house, designed and built the entire A-frame, and designed the interior and exterior spaces of the tiny cabin.

In addition, I was fortunate enough to acquire a house in the Catskills a couple years back that was on a beautiful piece of property but needed a complete interior refresh. After a few hectic months I created a rental home that now has over fifty 5-star reviews on Airbnb. You can see a shot of the yard (top center) and interior of that home (bottom center) below.

What's Next
It's been a rewarding, humbling, and often frustrating experience, but when people stay at these places I've created and tell me what an amazing time they had, it truly is great feeling.

I plan to continue in the direction of the smaller, camping-like experiences, with a focus on integration with the natural environment, eco-conscience features, and hopefully bringing a unique, beautiful aesthetic to it all.
